Mr MISCHIEF
Jill's new bus a 1973 camper with a Devon conversion.
We brought this camper as a donor bus for MAX our original camper. With the intention of cutting his roof off for MAX, as he has a pop top which we did not like (They always leak on old campers) and keeping his engine as a spare for MAX. Unfortunately for me and fortunately for Mischief She who must be obeyed Jill and our daughter Niki hatched a cunning plan. Jill and I would put Mischief back on the road and Niki would have Max for herself Hmmmmmm, I think I was stitched up Hehehe.
So after 5 months of swearing, welding and grinding plus a quick coat of paint to keep him from going rusty too quick (whilst we save up for a proper paint job) he is back on the road. Mischief was in a bit of a bad way (what do expect for £100 ) so he has had new front panel, new outer, inner and middle sills on both sides, new top hat sections, new outriggers and jacking points, new cargo area floor, 4 new wheel arches, 2 new rear quarters, new rear
valance and the inner valance repaired, the bottoms of the A, B and C post's repaired and lastly I cut off the front deformation panel (the bulgy bit the front bumper bolts too) as I didn't like it and it needed replacing and fitted an earlier panel in its place. The tailgate and the roof also had small repair panels welded into them. I think the only panel I didn't repair was the engine lid. I also did a bodgeit and scarper job (fibreglass and lots of filler hehehe) on the 2 cab doors and sliding door as we hope to replace them next winter. The interior was also removed as it was awful, someone had put a casing of 1" thick chipboard onto all the original Devon fittings with glue, screws and nails. So I am going to replace the interior with new units etc in plywood in the same style as the originals. If you want to see some pics of the work done to Mischief have a look at the WORKSHOP pages.
